2019 Oaxaca, Mexico / 2021 Bergen, Norway
In 2019 Reet Maff’l (my performance duo with Luke Drozd) were invited to create a new performance for the Dias de los Muertos celebrations in Oaxaca, Mexico. We created a new piece made in response to the area and a two-week period of research. The resulting spoken word and sound collage composition was performed live at Convivio gallery and venue, and performed to 360 Camera to create an alternative VR tour of Oaxaca.
In 2021 we produced an alternative guided audio-tour of Bergenhus festning as part of a commission by Hordaland Kunstsenter and Forsvarsbygg. ‘Unofficial Histories – Vol 1’ was written and recorded by Reet Maff’l with additional audio contributions from Andreas Brandal, Benedicte Maurseth & Øyvind Skarbø.. The audio-tour took the form of a live performance on the site, a printed map with audio accessed via audience’s mobile devices, and a vinyl LP.
